I do actually have a draft of my time at Apple Hill I intend to publish here, but looking at the length of my Korea trip related post, it's going to be quite a while before it's done.

First of all, apologies for this extremely late reply, jet lag's gotten to me so I didn't have the mood to sit down and blog (not to mention immediate preparation classes prior to school which will eventually teach me the same things thus making absolutely no sense). So unfortunately in the words of Paul McCartney, life goes on. Brahhh.

I'd say my time at AH was pretty much the best two weeks of my life, pretty much because of the amazing people who actually know a thing or two about classical music, the fact that I've done so many things you can't do in Malaysia, and lets not forget about the harpsichord. What could be better though is if I register again and actually start practicing my pieces two months prior to the camp without some piano competition getting in the way. Hopefully my skills would have sharpened by then.

Knowing your days are numbered is pretty excruciating. Admittedly I've never had a good history when changing to a new school, but I'm quite hopeful things will change. What's not looking like it's going to change anytime soon though is the UK riots, and in wake of that I'd like to wish fellow Malaysian Asyraf Haziq a speedy recovery. I'm trying not to worry about that now, and thank goodness Kent isn't affected too much. 8 more days then. Time to have the carpe diem mentality, and make the most out of today then.

My economics tuition starts in literally one minute, and I won't be posting for some time. So in the words of Beethoven himself: Lebewohl. Adieux.

Welcome to the charming city of Paris, with 6 footer girls aplenty, and the strictest inspection system ever!

Also in the process of composing this post I've had to go through a flight delay, wait for supper to end and quite embarassingly failed in many attempts to find the correct adapter for the laptop charger and getting the 'charging system' (whatever they call it in planes) to work just for this lappie. All of the latter done when the plane lights were off, and the commotion caused due to calling the attendants, switching the lights on and off and whatnot woke up some big-sized French guys, which made the situation doubly awkward. So thank me!

Anyhoo I'm pretty glad to be up here, quite literally. (eating nasi lemak over the skies of Europe really is quite fun!) At least I can relax and blog about what's to come instead of scurrying about desperately buying ink for my failing printer. Mind you I've got 60 or so pages printed out, so that's equivalent to the thickness of your exercise book! Speaking of which I'm ready to work like mad at Apple Hill, and lets hope they have a piano in each cabin like Korea did. And if all else fails there's a Steinway over there!

I read The Star today that Malaysia's very own curry laksa had made it to no 7 in CNN's best tasting foods of the world, and quite amusingly Singapore is grumbling about the fact that their chilli crab only comes in at 35th, and their chicken rice at who knows where. Thankfully the article also mentioned about how the crab and the chicken rice recipies originated from Malaysia itself. Couldn't agree more really. And I couldn't be more bemused by the randomness of this paragraph.

Anyhoo again, here's to two weeks of fun and torture, and I'll see you guys in a fortnight max.

Confessions of a bonehead

So gone were the days when Grade 8 piano was the highest ever achievement, the pinnacle of your career, a time when I naively assumed that I could talk to people with my head held high. Well, I was horribly wrong.

Frankly speaking I never even knew the diplomas existed until just six months ago, and I was preparing for my Grade 8 examinations at the time. I remember when I was still at Yamaha, and my teacher literally jumped out of his seat when he heard that I only had a Grade 6 certificate at 15 years of age. Well I can't say I was surprised - I knew quite a few friends who had already conquered pieces such as the Pathetique sonata, Fantasie Impromptu, and the Grande Valse Brilliante. All of them from government schools though, so in a way I'm fuming at the fact that there's really not much competition in Alice Smith's musical sector. Heck I played the first movement of Mozart's sonata facile and that garnered quite a big round of applause, while playing that in the dewan kuliah of your school would just be pointless.

So I'm really glad I've met xin ning, otherwise I wouldn't have known what to do after the grades. I've been pretty blessed, having met a friend from Garden international two years back, helping me to make the crucial decision of switching to an international school. In fact without him I wouldn't have thought of going to the UK to further my studies. And without xin ning I would be tinkling away at one of Clementi's unknown works right now thinking that that's pretty much the most difficult piece ever. And I wouldn't have started the violin for that matter! So a big thanks to you two for literally changing the course of my life.

Of course I'd also like to thank Ms Fan for everything she has done for me, especially believing in the fact that I can actually achieve something in Korea. I've made some lovely friends over there, and it's a pity we won't be seeing each other very often. So till we meet again, and I'd be lying if I said that I didn't miss you crazy buggers!

Crunch time

Ever heard of Martha Argerich? Yep, that's me. In my wildest fantasies.

I really could go on ranting and raving about my half-an-hour repertoire, but I'll seriously leave it to god to decide, while my anti-fatalistic side starts arguing about practice being essential and whatnot. I mean it is, but how long can the human body last? I'm down with a serious flu (presumably due to me constantly trying to put up with (I quote) window shopping and hair blowing in Korea) and it's late at night. Ah well.

I guess putting aside all the tension that awaits in New Hampshire, it's really leaving to UK for good that terrifies me. And that's actually quite an understatement. Frankly speaking I'd rather finish up college in HELP or Taylors, take a gap year and audition for Julliard just for fun. But who wouldn't want that? The world (well, the west) needs more Asian guys around to help them with calculations and billion-dollar contracts, and that's the gap in the market some of us have to fill.

Back to earth, there's no doubt quite a psychological barrier between east and west. Don't get me wrong, I'm not starting a flame-war about racial segregation and whatnot, it's just that I've been to an international school, and there is that difference, whether you like it or not. As Asians the majority would tend to be more reserved and over-analytical, while our counterparts can be exceptionally oblivious and outspoken. And that's what made me quite the oddball in the Anglo-infested world of Alice Smith, which I hope doesn't emulate again during my time in Sevenoaks.

It's going to be a wild ride. The days of relaxation are over. The days of being able to come back home grumbling about your day to your bestie are over. It's pretty much crunch time, whether it concerns music or studies. And I'm just hoping for the best.

Yes I've posted it on facebook, but I need to be fair to my non-fb followers as well!

Admittedly I could be doing better things on the flight back to KL than typing out this note. Still I've decided to ditch watching Red Riding Hood, for the past five days in Korea has been absolutely fantastic. And if you're reading this expecting an interesting read, you'd better scurry if you're not particularly used to the wonderful world of musical jargon.

Arriving at KLIA with no clue about what's to come next was only one of my worries. Having to be the only boy in our travel group of six was starting to bother me quite a bit. Yes I'm usually more comfortable being around the opposite sex, but it dawned on me that I would be staying with them for a couple of days, which ultimately meant adhering to the unwritten rules of window shopping and hair blowing. Still it was my first time travelling to foreign soil without my parents, and what could be more exciting than that?

For Ms Fan however it was just another of her kazillion events. Having rushed back from a recital in Bangkok to be our 'guardian' for the next few days, it's her sixth time at the Ewon Cultural Centre in Cheonan, approximately 1.5 hours away from Incheon, Seoul, where they have their annual international meet involving masterclasses, performances and recitals, with groups from Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Phillipines. More cultural variety came however from the professors who came as well, notably Israel, Hong Kong and Poland. And you never mess with the Polish when playing some of their beloved Fryderyk Franciszek.

We landed at Incheon, and were ushered to the bus, which took us straight to the town of Cheonan. What was interesting was the ruralness of it all, which seemed like a trip from Kuala Lumpur to Pahang. Course there was no time to admire all of that, glancing quite often at Professor Sunico, a tall burly man from the Phillipines, Professor Yeo, apparently 'a name synonymous to the classical music in Indonesia' due to her expertise in guiding 14 year old students to glide through Liszt etudes with ease, and Professor Sudarno, who seemed...pretty nice.

Turns out all the other profs were 'pretty nice' as well, having dealt with prospective young children for ages. Prof Reichart from Israel knows how to make up a story for almost every piano piece, and prof Benjamin Loh (Benji as I'd like to call him from now on seeing as he calls everyone by nicknames anyway) from Singapore can really crack jokes, just to name a few. But I was yet to find that out, as I went to my room with ze roommate, Risang Daharna Giri. Race is obvious.

Each room comes with an upright, which is pretty darn sweet. However the moment he played La Campanella was when I (you would too) nearly defecated in my pants. Here I am with a Bach prelude and fugue, a hopeless ballade and a half-boiled Chopin nocturne (as Ms Fan likes to call it), while I managed to make out a few pieces the others were playing:

- Liszt/Paganini Etudes 2, 3 and 6, Hungarian Rhapsody no 6

- Rach Piano Concerto no 2, all mvts, Piano Sonata no 2, mvt 1

- Chopin Scherzo no 2, Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brilliante, some etudes

- Beethoven Sonatas all mvts: Pathetique, Tempest, Les Adieux, Waldstein

Piece those together (no pun intended) and you get WW3 in second floor.

Finally I can annoy the heck out of my parents

Still, could be worse. Our group wasn't that shoddy either, with captivating pieces such as Widmung and Liebestraum 3. That ultimately made jay jay one of the least achieving pianist of the entire camp. Also another Korean guy joined us shortly afterwards, but that was all. Which accounts to only three males in a nearly all-girl festival of 40. Joy.

Just to give you an idea of the whole thing, there's an orientation session on the first day, where they invite some profs to perform some music for the newcomers. It sort of defeats the whole purpose of an orientation, because instead of making us more comfortable, you get hit hard by the subtle complexity of Jeux d'eau, the epicness of Rhapsody in Blue as well as the length and boredom of the Polonaise-Fantasy and some Moszkodlwsgskfski whatever his name is. You sort of get demotivated cause you've heard that apparently some people in the crowd know how to play those stuff. Or maybe that's the way the Koreans say hello.

Anyways the next two days would be full of masterclasses and performances, where each person would be allocated two masterclass sessions, and will have to perform at the end of the day. Still on the bright side you're not graded no matter how crappy your playing is. The real fear comes from the masterclasses, which I shall blabber on about later. On the second last day the competition begins, and that's where everybody starts to do whatever I almost did when I heard Risang play. And finally we were free to do whatever we liked on the last day before we departed for Malaysia. I think you know where this is going.

Having no masterclasses on Saturday meant that I could laze around doing nothing, well apart from following the group around for the whole day to take notes based on the profs' advice for them. Before that however we went to the handsome Prof Reichart (Ms Fan's yummy 007), teaching some stuff to a Hongkie. Arguably that was one of the best masterclasses ever, however I'm subject to bias cause of the fact that she plays the ballade no 1, and that he told a story. What more could you ask for?

I'll try and resurrect the 'story' of the ballade:

'...think of the first five measures of the piece as the grandfather of the village calling out to his men, with thousands of children flocking over to hear whatever he has to say. The booming forte and pesante octaves represents his voice, and you can imagine the children asking him 'what story are you going to tell us grandfather?' in the sixth and seventh measure. Only one child remains asking him the question, as shown by the tie into the Moderato section. That is where grampa says 'Once upon a time...'

Then he starts talking about heroes, war and ceasefire, like any wise grandfather should. And if you piano ignoramuses think that bedtime stories have absolutely no link whatsoever to music, you're dead wrong. At least it helped me get a pretty decent looking girl knocking at my door asking who the heck was making such a noise. But in all seriousness, it was my first time ever experiencing a masterclass session, and it was an amazing experience. Still, not as bonkers as Professor Ma Cong's one. (shall skip the others to actually incentively make you guys read on)

We already had quite a bad impression of Ma Cong before Petrina's masterclass, simply because Ms Fan just casually told us about a student's horrible experience with him, not telling us that that was the worst case scenario of course. It also didn't help when the girl before her was playing the 1st mvt of the Pathetique sonata (and being bashed severly for it), while Petrina was getting ready to play the third, along with her Liebestraum. And it definitely didn't help when he asked her to play Beethoven first.

Turns out that he was quite the eccentric funny type, and due to us being on the same wavelength (he's a Honkie), his esoteric jokes became all the funnier. Imagine a Hong Kong soap opera, with a crazy guy screaming 我要杀死你 (meaning I want to kill you for all you ang mohs out there) at his fifth wife who unusually went out of the kitchen to do some grocery shopping. Then bring that into bars of five-note running passages galore, and it should make a little sense. Though when I see them do it they usually say 我要 and breathe heavily for a long time to build up dramatic tension before the 杀死你, but that's not the point. The most hilarious part was when he said that char siew fan is not char siew fan without either of the rice or the char siew, basically emphasizing that both the melody and the accompaniment cannot survive without one another. 'Also, pedalling is like gravy, there cannot be too little on your fan, nor can there be too much'. Just some words of wisdom to make you crack up each time you perform.

They serve some random food over there (prepared by the locals presumably), and if you're interested in trying out kimchi for the first time, it's seriously not for those who hate pepper in their soup. In fact when the Malaysian team walked 15 minutes to town for something different, it was kimchi veggies as well. And the exact 'sushi' of sorts which they served in the restaurant was exactly the same as the one served in the centre the next morning!

Wrong country mate

The night of the second day was when I decided to move up to stay with the girls for reasons forbidden and ignorant to be unveiled (Note: it gets slightly awkward, so if you're under 13, go back to playing Pet Society). The thing is that the toilets are being shared with both Venus and Mars, so if there's a door malfunction while you're doing your thing, you'd be best off being relatives with the ostrich family. Oh and for all the boys out there, it's also important to note that girls can bully you gao gao, especially when it comes to asking about your love life. Haiya indeed...

(I'll really skip the competition because it's too long winded to talk about, so here's what happened after that)

Professor Sunico was very interested to give masterclasses free of charge to all of us, so we were more than happy to forgo the Cheonan trip (which apparently brings you to the Samsung building, just to tell you that it's there, and immediately bringing you to see a Buddhist temple). He's the type who's very intricate with every detail, which in my case knew which bass note I should play for my nocturne at any given point, and which fingering is best for the running notes of the ballade, both without looking at the score. We learned a lot from him, such as the fact that tempos should be based on Andante, for it is universally known as the 'walking pace'. Anything faster than Andante would be faster than how we walk, and the same theory applies for the slower speeds. Fingerings suggested in any edition should be followed as closely as possible, for they are usually the best ones. It literally made me think of how much I've missed for the past decade since I started the piano, and the amount of wrong beliefs I've had of the classical world.

At night we were treated to some Korean music from the Korean Arts School or something like that, and you could literally compare their vocal range to Freddy Mercury. The really disturbing thing was the fact that the lead singer confessed the fact that he loved me (is that normal in Korea??) due to my singing voice I think? cause we had to represent Malaysia earlier on by singing Sejahtera Malaysia. Ah well.

'빠르게! Send this to my ex!'

Our flight was scheduled to be at approximately 4:30 pm, which meant that we had to wake up bright and early if we were to have a remote chance of shopping in Seoul. So we slept for 3 hours, woke up at 4 and got ready to take the bus at 5:30. Unfortunately we had to wait for the Indonesians to come along, and being the slower bunch we finally set off at around 6:30. Korea's a charming place, whether at the countryside or in the city. You get cute doggies in Cheonan which the girls go wild about, and guys with makeup on in Seoul, which ironically garners quite the opposite reaction. Underground shopping isn't as interesting as it should be though, and the only thing which seemed worth looking were SNSD posters pasted everywhere in shops. The food is worthy of a shoutout, especially the yummy yummy bibim naengmyeon, with loads of chilli paste :3

So that's basically it, and a big shoutout to Ms Fan for being such a wonderful organizer, Le Shea for being sweet, Wan San for smiling during awkward occasions, Amanda for making the absolute lamest jokes ever and Petrina for proving that branded luggages can still stand some serious check-in abuse. Thank you guys for making this trip one to remember :)

Cause tumblr's just too mainstream

Just so you know I've copied my one-month old post from tumblr, so treat it as if I'm in the preparatory stages of my trip to Korea. Tumblr really doesn't take itself too seriously, so...back to blogger for me :)

I’m almost flabbergasted as to why blogspot has lost its popularity over the years. I remember a millionth of an eon ago when blogger was the way to go for organising events, or even just voicing out your beliefs and the roasted dog you ate last summer in Shanghai Bund. Ahh the nostalgia.

Facebook has clearly taken over the limelight, and as one cleverly pointed out - Facebook has taken over the world, so much, yo mamma has one. No fat joke can bring you out of the humiliation that you’re sharing the same internet base with your ex and probably some child prodigy who invariably crushes the hell out of you in Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, a piece in which he’s happily tinkling away at Carnegie Hall while you proudly present to your parents the first eight measures of Lento galore. To which they’ll look at each other and simultaneously give a nod of disapproval.

Take that, Western parenting!

Speaking of which I do have my own pieces to work on as well. Four grueling pieces to practice in a month, not helped by the fact that I haven’t started on two of them. Try listening to the first ballade by Chopin, makes for a good listen, but practicing is definitely out of the question, unless you’re either one of three of these things

1) You’ve finished your Grade 8, and have nothing else better to do than to go for masterclasses and six-hour daily practices.

2) You have a great passion for music, and would love to share the joy and emotions of classical music to a wider audience.

3) You’re me.

So on paper, I’m pretty much ready to bask in the joy of having nothing to do after a long two-year GCSE journey, apart from the occasional preparation for A-levels or IB. Add piano into the function, and you’ll end up with a schedule so miserable you could die. Survive that however and you’ll end up with a most rewarding repertoire, which will be supervised by professors of music from all over the world, and played for the Koreans and the Americans, to which some asian-educated morons would respond with Cziffra’s piano transcription of Saber Dance and La Campanella. So I can’t say that I didn’t warn myself.

Alternatively you could take the safe route, and play for a bunch of furballs which couldn’t care less.

That’s basically my rambling coming to an end, and I’ll be reading my copy of ‘Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother’ to pass time. Definitely makes for an amazing read.

I’ve just realised that comments are in its beta stages. I mean why post something so meaningful to you if the public can’t appreciate it with you? Being frank, I find tumblr very much a conceited platform of sorts, stealing a bunch of quotes and pictures in order to get worldwide attention, albeit in your own recalcitrant world. But hey I’m just trollin’, and I did steal parts of that previous phrase from a U.A Fanthorpe poem anyway. Does that make me part of the tumblr community?

First of all, thanks Aileen for subtly reminding me about this blog. It's great to see how frumpish my style of writing was a year ago. Just great :)

So I'm updating my blog. The dead blog supposedly resurrected for nothing since nobody's been coming to this page anyway. But it's nice to just rant and rave on the internet, which I have unconsciously been doing for the past two years in bukumuka. Ah well.

You know the feeling when you look at your former peers and think to yourself: 'I wish I were them'? When you look at your friends enjoying themselves post PMR playing chor dai di, pranking teachers, playing pat pat revenge or whatever that is on the iTouch. You'd wish you were them. Especially when you've got major exams coming up real soon while recovering from the shock of just missing an A+ for Maths. I can't help but think about that each time I pass by Katholik by bus, sobbing uncontrollably as I prepare for yet again another gruelling session with Physics.

Jokes aside though, Alice Smith has been a most enriching experience for me. Life's really different from CHS in many ways. The Malay standard's much lower than Malay lit (hah), while going for English classes feels like a chore when you have to in return get pwned by Caucasians of superior level. Teachers really treat you like adults, and aren't so worried to rant about their low pay (especially during business studies) as opposed to us getting lower results compared to students of their own peers. So you'd be wrong to say that there's no competitiveness in this school. Well yeah in a way, it's really fiery between the kiasu ones during exams, while the weaker guys just stare at their paper blankly. Thankfully very few in our year.

Friends are interesting as well. I've seen people from private schools who are just whacking grades month by month. Well more notably the Singaporeans who are getting near-perfect results regardless of which exam. Heck if you're getting solid A*s for practically every exam, you know you're pretty darn good. Relationships are much more open. Couples can kiss right in front of a teacher walking past like it's the zillionth time he's seen that. Still it's refreshing to watch these people bring some life to the school (along with some really awkward moments as well). Couples in government schools are generally plain dull IMHO.

I've just realised how much I've been on the computer, and spending nearly nil outdoors. Like everybody's going swimming, tennis and whatnot during Saturday mornings while I'm slugging it out on differentiation and trigonometric identities in tuition. Guess I can't wait till November. Then shall my weekly torture of Yamaha piano classes disappear before my eyes (albeit a final ABRSM hurdle in April). After that shall I adjourn to Bukit Kiara to hit tennis balls against the wall. Err anyone of you play tennis? :D

Guess I have to keep my future posts shorter. I have the time because mum & dad's out for Lobo's concert in Genting (google the old man). And I'd have to confess that I missed Adam Lambert's concert because I didn't know the date. And my dad would die of his excruciating gayness *gets splattered by rotten tomatoes*. I'm a really harsh critic on mainstream music, though actually quite fond of Secrets and The Only Exception. Maroon 5's a really good band as well. Some of the good music still surviving. :)

I have to admit, blogging is fun. Definitely much more productive than bragging on berkicau about the wagyu steak you had for breakfast and your fifth Ulysse Nardin Chairman after losing your fourth. And ASS peeps, I'd love to follow your blogs as well, whether you still update them or not. ;)

Restaurant Review...

Alright, no matter what, I'm determined to finish this up.

I'm stuck in Bayan Lepas anyway. O.o

Anyway...

For those who crave for the (ahem) higher standard of Japanese cuisine, but afraid of burning a hole too big for your wallet, here's:

Kura restaurant at OneWorld Hotel.

Located right beside the reknowned One Utama, OneWorld Hotel is one of the very few 5 star hotels with an exterior comparable to a budget condominium.

But then again, it makes up for it with the pleasant atmosphere.

And affordable prices (compared to the other 5 star hotels of course).

Kura is actually a branch off from the highly popular Rakuzen, which means that it's related to Zen in Sunway Pyramid, Sushi Zanmai in One Utama and many others.

Taking up most of the space in the second floor (the first floor if counting the ground floor), it's best recognized from far by the wooden hexagonal pieces surrounding the restaurant.

Warm, cliche Japanese greetings will welcome you as you enter.

You can choose any seat you want, but the recommended one would be by the window, overlooking the road linking to Taman Tun.

The table should accomodate at most a family of 6-7.

The menu offers a wide variety of appitizers, and for the (ahem) adventurous, the sashimi, raw fish in Japanese, would be a great choice.

Whether the fish is fresh or not, I have no idea (my dad complains at every restaurant...), but it's definitely more secure than (ahem again...) the 'other' restaurants in malls.

One thing's for sure, they slice it really thin, but they do give more than the standard '6 pieces'.

Or you can get the temaki (hand roll), the condiments ranging from soft shell crab to unagi (eel).

Basically, it tastes like any other restaurant which serves it at a cheaper price, so you can opt for the spider roll - four gigantic neatly sliced sushi with a soft shelled crab as the main.

Here are some recommendations, and feel free to complain if there's a fault (or if you just find it plain disgusting. :D)

Sanma Teriyaki

This fish boasts a wonderful taste, and is one of the best choices to go with the Teriyaki sauce

Problem is, you'll find a hard time picking out the miniscule bones, abundant in the body.

Anyway, if you find it too troublesome, or if there are no more fresh Sanma, you may opt for the mackerel, or better known as Saba.

The taste is around the same, but for Sanma lovers, it's worlds apart.

Agedashi Tofu

Famous for its 'soft yet crisp' skin, this tofu too makes a great starter.

It comes in huge chunks, sprinkled with lots of shredded nori and bonito flakes.

With some sauce to top it off.

Hotate Mentaiyaki

They say it's scallop in its shell, topped with mushrooms and fish roe.

Unfortunately, it should be assorted mushrooms in scallop shell with a piece of scallop.

Anyway, it tastes really good, and you get to take home the shell if you ask for a take away.

But I think it's not really worth your money.

Frankly speaking, I have no idea what most of them mean, but I'm fairly sure that you'll like it.

Your teaching methods were most interesting, and made us look forward to English lessons.

Though we slugged behind, you were there to push us.

You were there to make us love the language.

And you were there to make a change in us.

You gave us quizzes, spelling bees and whatnot.

Something not many government school teachers would do.

For you were creative enough to think that boring teaching methods would only make us hate English.

Okay, this post is going to be about Leona Lewis.

It's seldom to go 'wow!!!' over someone who has been so famous in the music industry for so long.

But, look at the mountain they climbed to success, and it's actually the best part of their career.

That was by no doubt the case for Leona Lewis.

Frankly, I never liked her.

My ears were going 'stop this nonsense!' when LiteFM played her cover of 'I Will Be' averagely 4 times a day.
So why am I even talking about Leona?
I mean, all she sings are just modern junk... Right...? (Say yes)
Anyway...

If you have noticed, the song 'All By Myself' by Eric Carmen is in my playlist.
It's the live rendition, as I couldn't find the studio recorded one.
So I went to Youtube, expecting to find the recorded one, but yet again failed.

After searching for some time, I saw one small thumbnail of Leona Lewis singing that song in X Factor, so I decided to click it for fun.
I mean, she must've been really good to win that big reality show right?

Okay, she wasn't good.
She was uber good!
I mean...
Just take a look at this!

That changed my image of her instantly.
But why didn't her own songs make it to my list?
After a survey, she didn't really use much of her vocal capability in those songs.
Songs like 'Bleeding Love' were mostly whispers, and others were just too fast.
(Yet again gets thrown by rotten tomatoes)
Anyway, it's really encouraging to see that somebody so shy can rock the whole world.
Funny thing is, it makes me want to join these competitions too. :)

With those American slangs, it's really hard to grasp the meaning.

Music requires us to understand how to read an orchestral score, which is, easier said.

Biology is really sick...

Surprising incident.

Here's an incident I witnessed (and got quite involved) on the way home from my new school.

(lol, sorry guys)

We were at some junction, my mum was (illegally) finding a number on her handphone, while I was reading a book.

Then, a loud bump was heard, and I tried to hide my shock.

From what I saw, it was our car's left side mirror that hit a Kia Spectra's right.

Well, I wasn't sure whether it was the other driver's fault or my mother's, but what was certain was that not a scratch was inflicted on either car.

As our car passed the other, I took a glimpse, and saw a young man (probably in his 20's) with another girl, his girlfriend maybe in the car.

As the girl pointed at our car with that scowl on her face, the man raced forward, and blocked our car, right in the middle of the crossroad!

Cars were honking, but that was not enough to stop the man, who opened his window, shouting some words like 'do you even know how to drive???' and pointed his middle finger.

My mother and I were aghast, and definitely the other road users.

When he finally moved, mother was muttering some words, while I was thinking of something else.

Malaysia's 52nd anniversary had just passed, and people are already showing signs of disarray.

Is this the way us Malaysians have to be?

We are a developed country, not uncivilised citizens.

The actions the man showed would be sufficient to dirt our name.

Just imagine if some leader of another country was the one who ~~banged~~ merely touched his car!

It is time for us to foster the togetherness spirit.

For only then can we save this crippling country.

My new school starts on Thursday, and orientation day is tomorrow.

Remember the aftermath of the bees in Bee Movie when they won their honey back?

I feel like one of them.

Sometimes I feel like sleeping for a whole day out of boringness.

I've done nothing constructive during the holidays.

Maybe I've trained my fingers to click and move the mouse more accurately?

Saddening isn't it, when you're alone, with only the computer as your companion.

And when you turn it on, all the people in your favorites list aren't online?

You play a computer game, people flame you for being such a 'noob'?

You turn it off, and once again, there's nothing else to do...?

The party I hosted during the holidays was a total disaster.

Yet again not a single girl could come. (for a whole day that is)

Well, I could blame anyone, but who else but me?

It just dawned on me that their parents could've been really scared of their safety?

Especially if it's a boy hosting the event?

Maybe I shouldn't think of any parties till I understand how the third party feels.

In the meantime, I shall let the compassionate ones do it.

And let my soul drift into dreamland, enjoying the serenity of what my bedroom can give...

As most of you know, I'm leaving Catholic high for Alice Smith International.

I didn't expect such amazing responses from you all!

Thank you so much!

Throughout my time in this school, I've made alot of friends, and gained interesting and useful knowledge.

Many activities I have joined, in which most of them were fantastic!

But out of all, Choral Speaking and Class Drama are the ones that remain strongly in my head.

(Or maybe it's because they were the recent ones...? O.o)

Teamwork was essential for success, and that was proven through our triumph in Choral Speaking.

And even the slightest unnecessary additions to the recipe can destroy the whole cake.

I guess the C.S team know what I mean.

Class Drama was one of the greatest activities I've ever joined.

It has, and will always leave a big impact on me.

When John and I were fighting for the Raoul act, I was really worried, for I liked that role.

I can't act the bad guy, come on...

So it's time to tell you all a little secret.

And some of you might hate me for this, for no sportsmanship was displayed in me...

When John was leading by seven votes, it was only a few days before the results would be announced.

So, I downloaded every web browser available.

Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera etc.

And used each one to cast a vote.

Saddening isn't it?

I have recieved my payback with the postponed date for drama.

So I have no more worries.

To those whom I hurt, I give my sincerest apologies.

Anyways, during training, I have to thank one person greatly.

Thank you for helping me through.

Without you, practise to me would have been something to do repeatedly without a goal.

Wow.

It's been a long time since I've updated this blog.

Okay, I have none...

But I really couldn't update this blog because of exams, and...

Well, what if your dog has a serious case of hip dysplasia, and has to be operated?

Finally, school exam has come to a close.

Lets hope the teachers spend more time discussing the papers.

But then again, I still have my piano exam to go.

I'm only a meagre grade 6 in ABRSM, thanks to my (...) teacher.

But she promised to make me jump from 6 to 8.

Not allowed, definitely, but the examiners wouldn't know...

Okay, sorry for not updating my blog.

And most of all, for not posting anything about my birthday for much more than a month.

Wow.

For once, my birthday has not just been nice or exciting, but WACKY!

Okay, let's talk about what happened on the 24th, the day I had my 'pre-celebrated' birthday.

I initially invited 12 people, but only 3 came.

And I understand that it was because of my inability to organise it well.

I apologise to the people involved, and their parents.

But ohhkay, let's just move on.

Jun Wei and Jayden came first, carpooling in Jun Wei's Honda Civic.

I was, absolutely happy at their arrival.

They went up to my room, while I went to the study room.

What suprised me was that Rui Zhi said via MSN that he couldn't come.

So, it was just the three of us.

Till, John came...

Jun Wei asked me to open my present immediately.

As expected, it was a pair of jeans.

Yay!

Finally something casual after wearing slacks, shirts and blazers...

Turning on the laptop, John wanted to play DotA.

Minutes later, it was a battle between John and Jayden, both professionals.

Okay, so Jayden was the better man.

I joined in the fight too.

Jun Wei was busy with the PS2.

Football freak...

Soo, we left for 1 Utama quite late.

The reason's a no brainer.

Since the movie started at 2, and it was only one, we went for pool.

I had quite a vast experience in pool, so don't play play with me. (jk)

So, being kind, I teamed up with John, while JW and Jd was in the other team.

Ohh, how he played... (nk [not kidding])

He missed so many shots, for Pete's sake!

Which was why the match narrowed down to a single 8 ball.

Jayden missed the shot, thank god.

Soo, I hit the last!

We played foosball, later.

Okay, I lost.

We went to the cinema, got the tickets, and posed in the lounge.

Lounge...? You might say.

We bought gold class tickets, much to the delight of John. :P

It was huge.

The sofas, to be exact.

Reclining gave us that 'shiok' feeling.

I used to dream about watching a movie at a cinema, sleeping in my own bed, while eating pizza.

It all happened in one day!

Night at the Museum 2 rocked!

It's a must watch!

Due to lack of ample time, we rushed to the Curve for some karaoke.

Before we went though, we decided that dinner between the four of us wasn't fun.

So, Jun Wei wanted to call some of our schoolmates.

Cecelia, Zi Ning, Teng Hoong, Jun Haw, Sue Ann, Rui Zhi etc.

Well, only one could come.

Two boys in the group were steaming in their hearts after they heard the news.

We reached The Curve, and walked some km to Red Box.

We got a room, and started singing!!!!!

I was obviously left out.

While the rest were singing Low, Circus, Party People, Boom Boom Pow (something...), I stuck to my principle.

Sway, Sometimes When We Touch, Don't Wanna Miss a Thing etc.

We tried Chinese songs too!

My song choice was old too.

Okay, so not too old as the Teresa Teng era.

John promised that he'll let me sing more in the near future.

I forgot to remind him that this was my birthday party.

Just imagine if it was his!

Dad came to pick us up to One World hotel.

We met Sue there, and took our places.

John and Jun Wei were reluctant to sit down...

Don't want to talk too much about dinner though...

Sue Ann gave me a present, by the way.

Lastly, Jayden was picked up at the hotel, while the rest went to my house.

Much to my suprise, Jun Wei's and Sue Ann's parents were visiting my house.

Too add to my suprise, Jun Wei's father gave me a second present!

Talk about double happiness.

We went up to my room again, but this time, no computer.

While I was checking out Jayden's blog, which he already talked about the party (wow, was I shocked!), Jun Wei, John and Sue were on my bed.

As long as it doesn't get wet.

Sue was also playing with my spoilt rubik's cube, while John was helping her.

Poor Jun Wei could only sigh as he left the two in the room, going home.

Anyways, Sue left at 12 a.m, while John left at 1.

His parents called repeatedly, sounding quite angry.

Overall, I thank you all who came for my party for making it a success.

It turned out to be more wacky than expected.

At 12 a.m, while I was still brushing my teeth (O.o), Jun Wei warned me about tomorrow's water show.

Not such a nice birthday wish... O.o

At least Cecelia's wish came a minute later to sweeten it up.

Anyway, not much happened in school.

The nice thing was that people were repeatedly wishing me at school.

I felt really high!

Till...

I decided to play a game of footie during PJPK.

Oh, what a wrong choice.

Jun Wei kicked a corner ball, so hard that when it hit my face...

Okay, so it was just heavy nose bleeding and a cut.

The thing which annoyed me was that the BSMM girl spoke in Chinese...

And that right after it hit my face, John and Jun Wei gave their birthday wishes...

Anyway, I finished school, and the whole day 'donning' a plaster on my nose.

The agony!!!

In conclusion, not many people really knew about my birthday, resulting in minimal reasons to thank other people.

Life?

Life is hopeless...

Life is just boring...

Life sucks!!!

But the most frequent one goes to:

Life doesn't go the way I want...

So, what is life actually?

Life is an adventure.

We don't live for a big goal.

We live to move the never-ending boulders obstructing our path.

Gaining knowledge, power and courage doing so.

In life, the most countered obstacles are mostly small ones.

Take this as an example:

"This morning, I woke up, only to find my toothpaste missing. Not knowing what to do, I screamed the house down, till my mother came walking, used to such hot-temperedness. Getting what I wanted, I finished off everything, and went to school. During English period, I forgot to bring my textbook. I felt my eyes begin to water, and it came. Nobody bothered me, instead, they laughed! The teacher even sentenced me to a period's detention in the diciplinary room. Oh, how I wanted to kill that teacher... Next was recess. I went to the canteen, and I saw my favorite bowl of laksa. It was the last bowl! I went there, and it was snatched! I was so angry, I punched him in the face. The soup splattered all over him, and he had to be hospitalized. Well, I don't care, but I couldn't get my soup... I was sent to the diciplinary room again, and my parents came to school. I was suspended from school, and my girlfriend dumped me for being such a jerk..."

And there you have it. One of the most annoying people in the world.

But that's not the important part.

Look at how he reacted to some situations.

Yes, that is overreacting, but the obstacles he faced! So small, and yet he thinks the sky is falling!

By trying to hit the boulder instead to devise a plan to move it aside, he hurt his hands and legs by doing so.

Have you ever thought of that?

This mentality made the person who experienced the previous incidents think that life 'sucks'.

So life is just about moving boulders aside?

Well, boredom would have killed us by then.

No, we don't just do that, we also have fun!

Playing computer games, reading a novel, or simply just resting, is a form of lesiure or fun.

So remember, especially to those textbook-worms:

'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'

'Arrgh! I can't move the boulder aside!'

Liverpool's motto has just answered your problem.

'YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE'

What are we without friends?

We are an island.

'No man is an island'

'We are archipelagos, ready to survive the storm'

Remember, other than parents, friends are your only companion.

Friends are the only ones that you can talk to without any hesitation.

Good friends are rubbish bins, ready to open up for any garbage you're going to throw in.

Remember, anything worse that best friends are just nothing.

Don't waste time on them.

While destroying obstacles, you may find one or two wine bottles on the road.

Puppy love works the same way.

You drink it, and you become happy, and eventually get drunk.

Later, you won't even notice a boulder rolling down the hill.

There are many more things in life, but it is not easy to say them all.

As I type this post in the cold hotel room, I think of the drama competition that shall begin in July.

Everywhere I walked, words of drama scripts and characters were ringing in the air.

The Phantom of the Opera.

The obvious candidate for drama.

I do believe that every class has (or shall) chosen that particular story.

Christine...

The three main characters.

Christine's role has been confirmed, with the presence of Cecelia.

Now...

John and I have been fighting over the 'Raoul' role.

But sadly, the final decision goes to John, with power in his grasp.

I may have to be Erik...

Truth to be told,

I would prefer to be Monsieur Firmin.

Never have I liked being the bad guy. :)

I'd have to prepare for the worst.

Meanwhile, I'll just stay in this cold darkness, with only the computer as my partner...

Unless you've been living under a rock, you would've known about the Scottish woman by now.

Having risen to fame since the day she sang, the views for the video were sky-rocketing.

But, after watching the video, do you think all things came together to contribute to the views?

Simon Cowell, the gigantic (cynical) audience, a big stage, her (err...) looks... (sorrie!)

All formed an image of a normal aged woman who sang beautifully in front of a laughing audience.

I personally liked it actually.

Let's hope she works harder in order to achieve more than she has ever expected.

Our choral speaking group got second for the district level.

It was clear that many were absolutely frustrated at the shocking result.

La Salle got first, while Taman Sea got third.

The best conductor also went to Taman Sea.

Déjà vu huh...

Here are the standings...

Well, I can't admit that I do not want that to happen, but...

Anyway, no matter what happens, we are still winners at heart.

On Saturday, I woke up early for the long-awaited CHS Idol.
I felt slightly worried, because I was already kicked out in the early stages of the competition last year.
I was third, behind Benny and a form one girl...
Then came Jia Yi and Audrey...
Lee Chia and Arvind...
Yuen Foong and Sara...
John...
John...
John...
The world revolves around John...
Okay, he was a committee member...
The pressure...

I presume the Form 1 girl was intending to sing 'My Heart will Go On' by Celine Dion.
Benny, the rest and me did a group practice on that song! :P
Till we were stopped by a certain committee member.
Jia Yi was thinking of singing an English song.
She didn't, I guess.
Audrey sang 'You Raise Me Up' by Daniel O'Donnell
As for me......................................
I chose to sing Westlife's 'I Lay My Love on You'
It was an unprepared song, as I only thought of the idea at recent.
Plus, I thought that the judges would prefer newer song that what i initially wanted to sing...
As I went in for the audition, the three judges stared at me, while I sang...
It was a very uncomfortable experience.
Right after I came out, I just realized that Cecelia was in charge of opening the door after the contestants finished singing.

I didn't get through, and Lee Chia was the only 2A1 who managed to go to the semis...
Then, I went for Choral Speaking practice...

Yesterday was also special day for the world.
Why? (lame question... :P)
Well, that because everyone was getting ready to turn their lights off for an hour, in support of Earth Hour.
My family and I went out for dinner.
We turned off the lights, of course.

The dinner place was most unique.
We had a vegetarian guest, and he recommended a vegetarian restaurant.
Just when we were worried about eating fried cabbages and beansprouts, we were surprised by the food choice.
We ordered these:

1. Shark's fin Soup
2. Butter prawns
3. Char Siew
4. Hor Fun with bitter gourd
5. Some bean curd dish
6. Fish...?!

Woah...
My parents were just going to ask him whether he was really vegetarian or not!

They was confused more when he just smiled at them...
Well, all was answered when we ate them...
The texture was slightly different, but overall, the taste was almost the same!
We were overwhelmed by the skills of the chef...
We'll definitely go again!
Maybe... :S

Anyway, school is exciting and boring at the same time.

Finally the holidays are here!

After a long, trudging week, it feels great to have a good rest.

And I get to edit my blog again!

But for Catholic High students, it ain't going to be a good week.

Oh well...

I guess I shouldn't remind you all about the killer exam right after the week.

Good luck though, and study hard.

That's what the holidays are for.

Anyway, I added a new playlist, right at the bottom of my other playlist.

And it's all about dance hits from the 70's-80's.

However, this unexpected new inhabitant is specially for the adults who miss the good old days.

Since I found out that many of my parents' friends read my blog, I feel responsibility yanking me down...

Oh, and the apart from the first three songs from the 70's and the last four slow dance hits from the 80's, the rest are the best of the best dance hits from the 80's in ascending order.
And I know that Grease Megamix was made in the 90's, but the original song was made in the 70's...

The new Perodua MPV!

Yup, you heard it right-Perodua.

Now why would Perodua make an MPV?

And would the Malaysians prefer this design to the Wish, Estima, Grand Livina etc?

Well, that I can't say, but it would be handy for people who has a big family.

Or maybe a person who likes the Perodua Viva... O.o

It should be cheaper than 100k, so look out for that.

It should be out in late 2009.

Oh, and the Proton MPV should be in showrooms by April 2009.

I've taken a sneak peek at the real one (yes, I can confirm that), but you would have to check it out yourself...

Okay, I guess some of you may have seen at least one or two on the road.

But why only one or two?

Notice the exterior of the Chancellor looks like a Waja?

Now being in the shoes of the typical Malaysian, why would someone spend around RM138k for an upgraded Waja?

Does that sound ridiculous to you?

Maybe not, but for many, yes.

However, in my point of view, the Chancellor is one bold move by Proton.

It shouldn't have been negleted by the people.

BUT!

After checking out that it uses the same engine as the problematic Perdana, and after roaming around for some airbags which were not there initially, I finally understood why.

Poor thing.

But in the meantime, let's just hope that Proton will upgrade this most prestigious car in the near future.

My ‘business trip’…

Bwahaha!

I’m kind of happy with this picture.

Since the Merdeka Day celebration in school, I haven’t officially worn this blazer outside.

So, wondering why I’m wearing this?

Well, let’s just say that Hong Kong is too cold for a single garment to resist.

Greetings from HK! :)

It’s really nice here.

However, we took a slight detour to Macau.

Which is well known for being the ‘Sister Las Vegas’.

Now there’s really one thing which I don’t like about the place.

Look at the sky, and all you see is this---

Though some may not notice, the sky is a full grey.

You seldom see clouds.

Or should I say: Never.

Pollution…

The Venetian Hotel is really big.

Sort of a replica of the one in Vegas.

But, I’ve seen the REALLY real one in Venice

Correction: The place is Venice… :P

Compared to Venice, the hotel is new, without the moss and dirt.

Shopping malls, food courts etc…

Well, at least one tower looked the same:

As we usher in a new year, we can’t help but think about the ox, taken over its predecessor, the mouse.

The ox, in a nutshell, is a sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work.

Those born in the year of the Ox are born leaders, possessing the ability to do great things.

They have very logical minds, and are incredibly systematic.

Oxen are blessed with kind souls, positiveness, and full of common sense.

Some may not like their strong-minded, stubborn, individualistic attitude though.

Majority are highly intelligent individuals who don't take kindly to being told what to do.

Anyway, they are very caring people, and very dependable.

Which explains a certain metal ox’s ability to rule the United States of America.

Wows...

The day before yesterday was Gerko day.

I don't understand the reason why they call it 'Gerko", but I'm totally sure it involves joining activities.

The activities I joined last year were:

1) English Language Society

2) Table Tennis

3) Boy Scouts (Okay, I stopped)

And this year:

1) English language Society (I vow to stick on to this unless I don't get a commitee post)

2) Table Tennis (again)

3) Chinese Society (Lenian asked me to join that cos I don't need to go to any of the meetings, and I get a discount card for RM 3, and free Gerko marks...)

But *sigh*, I feel that it's such a waste.

Why should ELS and Choir be on the same day, same time?

I love singing, yet I have a big responsibility to stick to ELS.

I feel as if God is playing tricks on me (again)

I don't believe it.

John, Cecelia, Yuen Foong, and even some who don't join Choir persuaded me to go...

Especially Yuen Foong, who said that I could improve my singing with that.

Actually, that's one of the main reasons...

I was doing duty, passing out leaflets for ELS.

But I soon found out that it wasn't me doing the talking.

It was the other people talking to me...

Especially LM (Lembaga Mantainence).

It was sheer horror.

Anyway, fast forward a few hours, and it was all over.

ELS managed to get a total of 205 members.

Well, compared to the Chinese Society, it's just a small grain of sand in the beach.

But we were beside them.

So we were very lucky.

In conclusion, it's really difficult to make choices nowadays, and so I hope that:

Life will be a one way street?

Never.

I've always watched people having talks...

With faces as happy as a lark.

With grins as wide as the Cheshire Cat.

Watching them, I always have that feeling in me.

The feeling of emptiness.

As I walk around the school compound...

Alone...

Am I just a lone wolf, the one lost from its pack?

Am I the turtle, who hides itself in its shell?

Am I the wallflower, pretty but ignored?

Or am I just plain shy, to take action after many months of planning?

"Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down."

This simple quote explains what I was doing all these years.

To not take action, but to wait for somebody else to do so.

And what did I get from all this?

Nothing.

Well, nothing much.

As most of you know, I now study in Catholic High School, class 2A1.
And wow, after all those tense months!
I now feel exceptionally relieved, and thank god for all that I have now.

And the classroom atmosphere doesn't help much either.

Hey guys, it's been quite some time since I'd ever done a post, so I apologize for the many fruitless visits throughout the time.

Anyway, I'm in Atlantis, Dubai.

Not the Lost City, mind you.

It's a hotel, and it's really big.

Well, you know Dubai, place of the riches and no ingenuity...

There are many things to do here, such as walking along the beach, playing watersports, table tennis, beach volleyball, and what I'm doing now-having fun at a club.

The club for 13-17, that is...

The admission fee is what I would like to call: P&C.

However, the many things to do here is addicting, and it makes you want to do more.

For the older kids, that is.

For me, all I want to do is blog and sip a mocktail...

Trying to chat with msn, but Mac really sucks...

There are Xboxes, PS2s, Wiis and more.

Just that it's all occupied by the older kids.

You all know that I'm thirteen right?

(cry)

Apart from that, there's a dance floor.

None are interested though...

But even if I wanted, why should I dance alone?

lolz...

There's more, but let me just shed some light on my room.

Initially, the minimum stay time is for seven days.

However, we were (are, to be exact) going home the next day.

So what did my parents do?

Well, it's really complicated, but let's just say that they're really good at talking...

Geez.

There were no more rooms left except for a suite room, and so we took that.

Now would you imagine the size of that single room?????

Been there, done that...

Hah.

Btw, I forgot to talk about my experience the past few days.

When we arrived Dubai from Nice (France), my father decided to stay at The Address hotel.

It was really nice, at the heart of the city.

And right next to my mother's favorite place to hang out.

The Dubai Mall...

(cries again)

My legs were sore...

It was after midnight, and so following the daily procedure (well, you know), we slept.

Till the next morning.

My mother called my friend, who was also in Dubai, to meet us in the mall.

For lunch, we had it in the food court.

What I ate is also P&C.

After many moments of shopping, we went back to our hotel, talked, blah blah blah...

And slept.

You may think that I'm too lazy to explain the day's happenings.

But that was that.

The next day, we met up with them again.

Btw, it was a couple, with an adorable daughter, around 5-7 years old I guess.

We went to the beach, which was near to the Burj Arab, which was the most exclusive hotel in the world.

I guess...

Soon, we went to see the Mall of the Emirates, the second biggest mall in the world after it was toppled over by the Dubai Mall.

And yes, in the world.

I never do typos.

Well, maybe sometimes...

After shopping in there (omg, the 1st and 2nd in a row...), we saw the Ski Dubai, which was in the mall itself.

Lols! It's darn right big.

Anyways, we didn't go in there for my mother fears that I'll topple over and have what she calls an accident.

As XXX said: There are no accidents.

Well, I'll call my cut on my right index finger an accident alright...

After a while, I found my fav sunglasses which I've been looking for all this while!

You may see it in my Facebook, well, that is, if you have it.

Anyways, we went to another mall, the Burjuman, shopped there, ate there...

Went home, slept, woke up, did the checkout procedure, went to Atlantis, and wulah!

Phew!

I'm tired...

And I think I'll go get my Mocktail now.

And it seems that I have to spend my Christmas here, while others can spend their time having a toast at home.

On an evening in Roma...

Well, I'm here in Naples, south of Rome.

Well, that's because the internet was a little problematic yesterday.

And since we change hotel everyday, we have to go south, if following the itenary.

So how's everybody?

If me, Rome was a little unpleasent for a certain reason.

And Naples reminds you about some Bangkok or Vietnam.

The traffic I mean...

If it wasn't for the low battery in the computer, I would've continued.

And did I mention that the hotel room does not have a convenient plug?

I have less than 3 minutes, so...

Phew, I managed to charge the battery.

Well, in Sienna though...

Today's the fourth day!

And I guess that some would want to know all about the trip.

Well, I'll try my best, cause I have to sleep soon.

1st day

It was 12 a.m in the morning when I reached KLIA.

I was a little tired, but felt an unexpected energy somewhere inside.

For tonight would be the night that I'll depart for Italy! ('Fall For You' modified extract)

My family had a slight privilege, and so we went to the Emirates Lounge (Yes, Emirates...)

The lounge may be small, but the food really packs a punch!

Here are just some of them-

The smoked salmon and scallop with Thai sauce.

And there you have it, Emirates Malaysia's finest food!

And now, we fast forward 2 hours, and we're in the plane.

The Business Class was satisfactory, which you can see from the blurred picture.

After a few hours, we reached Dubai for a 'pit stop'.

Since the next flight to Rome was in 4 hours, we had some time to do some shopping.

And blog in Dubai.

Teehee... ^^

Dubai is a very rich country.

Plus, the currency is like somewhat 0.98 compared to the Ringgit, and so it's quite easy to compare prices.

Well, after that, we took a same sized plane, but upgraded business class seats.

Take a look at this:

Now that's what I call satisfaction.

After like, err... 6 hours I guess, we reached Rome...

The weather was like, 8-12 degrees Celsius...

I found the airport to be very old.

The airport ceiling will never ever beat Malaysia's...

It's 4 times lower.

Muahaha.

After collecting our luggages, we procceded to the exit.

The weather was hotter than I'd expected.

And so my gloves were of no use.

So much for the RM100...

On the bus, the people were like robots.

We didn't talk to each other, due to the Malaysian attitude running deep in our bloods.

I guess...

Our tour guide's name is Alicia.

And for A. Keys fans, that's Alicia Tee to you all.

She's quite a nice lady.

If not for her broken English I guess.

She says 'Bonjour No' like a ----

Okay, broken Italian...

Our first stop was in Vatican City.

There was another tour guide there.

Italian, to be exact.

After giving us some headphones for easy communication, we procceded to the St. Peters Bascilica.

That's 'Church' in Italian.

Wows...

It's the biggest church in the world...

Talk about it being in Vatican City, which is the smallest city in the world, with approx. 0.44 kilometres in diameter (I was too lazy to double check in Wiki)...

The city isn't covered with a big fence.

And no passport is needed...

Haha...

By the way, some parts of the city isn't covered with fences (duh)...

Which means that one tile may belong to Italy, while another in front may belong to Vatican.

Talk about amazingness...

Haha.

We went in the church (or maybe cathedral).

But to not waste everybody's time, I shall now procceed to the other attraction.

Trevi Fountain.

When I reached there, it was around 5 p.m. local time.

And the sky was starting to get dark.

Wow, talk about winter wonders...

The fountain backdrop is the Palazzo Poli, linking the two main stories with Corinthian pilasters.

A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome.

Among those who are unaware that the "three coins" of three coins in the fountain were thrown by three different individuals, a reported current interpretation is that two coins will lead to a new romance and three will ensure either a marriage or divorce.

A reported current version of this legend is that it is lucky to throw three coins with one's right hand over one's left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain.

I threw 3 coins, and to the suprise of me, my mother was taking a video...

Since I fantasize about marrige, I'd better get home fast...

Haha.

Right after that, we went for our first dinner.

It was located in one of the restaurants in the streets of Rome.

I think the name was: 长龙饭店.

It was a chain hotel with an unknown name, that's all I can say.

Rumors tell that the hotel name was going to be changed to Le Meredien.

The room was satisfactory.

First things first...

The internet!

Okay, maybe not.

We were distributed the keys, then procceded to our respective rooms.

Porters will take pur bags. Ingenious idea from GTT, if not for the limited number of 'the walking object with two hands'...

The internet was a little problematic (as stated in the top), and so I did not work on my blog for the time being.

And so, I slept soundly for the rest of the night.

The next morning...

Okay, I'm currently in Milan, which is counted as the coldest city in our itenary.

I shall go to Nice, Monte Carlo and so on tomorrow.

Which is, in France.

And so, I get another chance to try out Escargot...

Which we visited before the Trevi Fountain.

The building was magnificant.

I now have seen another of the New 7 Wonders of the World...

My second, that is, after the Great Wall of China.

I now have not much time to explain much, so...

Okay...

The next day...

After waking up, drowzy, as expected from jet-lag, we went for breakfast.

The food was alright I guess.

After a while,we went to the town of Pompeii, which was frozen in time when it was engulfed by the eruption of Vesivius (a volcano, duh...) in AD79.

After the town was excavated in who knows when, the people's movements were frozen.

In bones I guess.

Until a smart archeologist came up with an idea to reform the human body with the bones inside.

I guess...

I just can't seem to remember what happened that day...

Over there in Pompeii, there was another guide named Marco.

He's really good in telling us all about the town.

Over there, there used to be gladiator fights and your typical Roman Civilisation.

Okay, excluding the ancient bars, bakeries and...

Well, straight forwardly, erotic art...

There were many pictures taken, but just to let you know that each is around 3.0 mb

Which means that uploading them will take a while.

Yes, I can reduce the quality of the picture, but...

Oh well...

After that, we went for our first Italian lunch.

Actually, we missed yesterday's lunch, and we got a refund of 10 euros...

Anyways,

Next, we went to Sorrento, a place high up in the mountains, and easily reachable from Pompeii or Naples.

It's a popular tourist destination, however, we only spent less than an hour there due to the lack of activities.

All we did was go to a wood factory, which the people there are specialized in.

We bought a nice musical box, and when you open it, you can keep some of your stuff in there.

The song wasn't so nice though...

After that, the sky got dark, and we were heading to Naples, known as Napoli to the Italians.

We went straight to the restaurant, which was Chinese.

Once I entered the restaurant, I soon remembered what Alicia said to us yesterday---

'If you can't stand the food today, tomorrow's food would be inedible...

I braced myself for the worst.

However, due to the nice atmosphere, the food tasted nice to me.

Not as nice as yesterday's, but definitely not inedible... ^^

Lastly, we went to our hotel-Holiday Inn.

That was the good part.

The bad part was...

The hotel size was literally, inn-sized.

Oh well, it was mordern at least.

The room was okay, and so we slept comfortably till the next day.

The third day.

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

7.19 a.m, Dubai

Hi guys, I just reached Dubai!

It will be a 4 hour break before the next plane to Rome.

By the way, the lounge here is huge!

Well, not huge as in the food variety though.

In fact, it takes me a minute just to walk to a small place full of food...

And back to where I'm seated.

I just finished a plate of breakfast, and I'm already feeling tired.

My mother's moody (for a particular reason) attitude doesn't help either.

But let's not talk about the boring stuff... :)

Ok, I guess I shall be leaving for Rome at Malaysia time 1.15 p.m.

If I'm not wrong, that is.

My dad is seated a little far from me, and so I have no idea.

See how 'alert' I can be?

Hehe...

Dubai really is a rich country.

I saw that from my first step into the terminal.

With disco-like lights, 24-hour shopping, and most of all, a duty free shopping contest for a Bentley or a Mercedes Benz S 500.

Living the high life...

Drool...

Which means that I can't sms anymore.

It would be too expensive.
